Limestone is a semimentary rock made up of layers of calcium carbonate formed from the accumulation of organic matter in shallow seas, which is turned to stone by millions of years of pressure. Limestones come in a variety of density and hardness and some rare limestones are as tough as granite.

Any interior or exterior surface on which these tiles will be laid must be suitable for the purpose. The surface must be level, dry, clean and free of any dust, grease or loose materials.
When unpacking stone extra care must be taken as wooden and stone spacers may need to be removed from the packaging before the stone can be lifted out. Stone should always be stacked and stored vertically on its edge, but not on hard surfaces to minimize risk of chipping.
